Therapy services

Therapy sessions are located in Tuusula Nuppulinna, three kilometers from the Jokela train station. Here in the peaceful countryside there are horses, cats, dogs and other barnyard animals. Even Though all the animals are safe and calm - it is good to note that customers are encouraged to have insurance in case of an emergency. Getting on a horse is not a necessity. One therapy session at the stall commonly lasts one and a half hours.

Horse assisted psychotherapy

Horse assisted psychotherapy is a psychophysical form of therapy where in addition to the client and therapist there is also a horse with you. The horse helps navigate and mirror your emotions. Horses cannot be tricked, however sometimes it might feel like horses understand the way you feel better than other people. Getting on a horse and relaxing there releases forgotten memories in your body which gets very emotional. Sensorimotor psychotherapy for studying and observing your body is highly incorporated within the therapy sessions.

Horse assisted psychotherapy, “stall therapy”, includes more than just staying on a horse. At your own pace you get to know the horse in a safe way. Stall therapy’s unique and safe environment oftentime makes you relaxed and recepting faster than a regular therapy setting. New tools, ways of thinking and understanding of yourself and others help with psychic burden. The horse helps us better understand ourselves and each other while also finding those psychic sores that can be helped with psychotherapy

Family- and Couples therapy

Family therapy is a way for me to see the bigger picture, getting the help you need by understanding your history and finding a way for acceptance without judging. Everyone is a part of a family and has lived in a family setting or system. This system shapes us and changes within the system also change us. Family therapy can be arranged individually or in a group setting. Family therapy can be sessioned as a fast or long form of psychotherapy.

Couples therapy is a safe place to figure out the relationship's tangles with a therapist who stays neutral. Couples therapy takes 5-15 x 90 min sessions. It is good to leave 2-4 weeks inbetween each session. This gives the couple time to get their homework done which benefits the sessions forward. You can reach out for therapy at any time: in the beginning of a new relationship, in a long time relationship or in the midst of a crisis. The parts that need work on are determined together based on the situation. Problems may be caused by communication or lack there of, added struggles of parenthood or there may be infidelity which has risen difficult emotions. You can also seek couple therapy without any hardships or themes in mind. You do not have to know beforehand what you want nor do you have to prepare yourself for it. Couple therapy can be a place for rekindling connection without there being any problems. At best couple therapy makes you feel mentally better and strengthens the bond between the couple. This leads to more satisfaction and happiness on the long run.

Sensorimotor psychotherapy

Sensorimotor psychotherapy, “body therapy”, gives us access to the information within your body in different cases of depression, anxiety and trauma. Commonly our bodies hide more knowledge than what we remember in our hearts and minds. This information is handled carefully with the functional tools of sensorimotor psychotherapy. During therapy sessions we use body movements and body control exercises. This helps with understanding the body and mind with the knowledge and stories our bodies keep hidden. Often pain and aches are the result of an unprocessed psychic weight. In my work sensorimotor psychotherapy also combines well with horse assisted psychotherapy

Cognitive-analytic psychotherapy

Cognitive-analytic psychotherapy is a time limited integrative form of psychotherapy where we discover together with the client their symptoms and experiences. The knowledge gathered together works as a guide outside of the sessions and after the therapy sessions have ended. This can be drawn, written or expressed in other ways. Cognitive-analytic paradigm can be used both in long and short term psychotherapy.
